Wednesday last week we went to hang out with our friends the Childs in Johnstown. They have a great neighborhood pool. We swam for a few hours and I forgot the difference between being in the sun at sea level and being in the sun at high altitudes. Well, my back was completely fried! Luckily I covered the girls pretty well. We spent the rest of the day hanging out, making bracelets and necklaces out of beads and just having fun.
Thursday night Nolan came to Colorado. Lexa and I went to pick him up.
The next morning he wanted to meet his friend Carl for breakfast before Carl was flying out of the country. Nolan had to leave our house around 6:15 so he could meet him at 7. They had a great time. Nolan stopped by to see some people at HP then came back to Longmont to get the rest of his family. Then we headed right back to Windsor to have a fun lunch with the Gameon family at Big City Burrito. Nolan had been craving these burritos for weeks. The Gameons have three girls, one of which we call Clara's twin. After lunch we went to Severance to see some friends, Lexa's classmate Mikayla and her family. Nolan and I love listening to their mom's work stories (she is a police officer in Ft Collins) and the kids had a lot of fun. After that we met our friends the Pippins at their brand new beautiful home in Ft Collins. We went swimming at their beautiful neighborhood pool (almost right next door), had bbq pizzas, put the kids to bed, then had a great night of game playing. Took us a little bit to get into our first game, Agricola. but then we had a ton of fun. We spent the night at their house.
Saturday we came home to Longmont to a surprise of my dad's brother being here, Uncle Wes, with his partner, Marianne. We had lunch at my grandma's house, GG, talked a lot, walked to McDonalds to get ice cream, and then to Hover Park. There we met most of the Nielsen Clan (family I grew up with). All their grandkids were fishing for crawdad's in the creek, like we used to do when we were little. We took a stick, tied string to it, tied paper clip to the end, put a piece of meat on the paper clip, then put them in the water. The kids had a blast. they caught about 85.
Sunday my dad took Nolan to the airport at 5:45. They were supposed to leave at 5:30 but my dad didnt set his alarm. Luckily Nolan figured this out and woke him up in time. I got the girls up and we went to our old church ward in Windsor. It was very fun to see everyone again :) We went home after church, ate some lunch, took naps, said goodbye to Uncle Wes and Marianne, then packed an overnight bag and drove to Colorado Springs. We went to see our great friends the Donohoues.
This morning we woke up, not too early, and went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We have never been there before and it was a ton of fun. We fed the giraffes, the views were spectacular, and the kids got along great. I love hanging out with Katie and was glad to see them. We left around 7 tonight and drove back to Longmont.
Not very many days left here, but we plan on making the most of it before we leave on Friday.
